Super Sport
The launching of the breathtaking
four stateroom/four head 73 Super Sport marks a significant
moment in Ocean’s illustrious history. With
it, we now manufacture the entire range of production
yachts – from two models that define, for most,
its beginning – our 40 Super Sport and 40 Sport
Fish – to its ultimate end-point.
The all-new 73 Super Sport occupies the upper limit
of what can be achieved in the production category.
To add appreciably to her length and beam would require
a reorientation of manufacturing and marketing approaches
appropriate to semi-custom or custom yachts.
Unlike them, however, the 73 Super Sport is, arguably,
the industry’s most exceptional value. We define
value as we do for every Ocean offering: that optimum
combination of interior volume, amenities, performance,
speed, and standard equipment. Even on this –
Ocean’s largest, most luxurious model –
our standard equipment list is unsurpassed.
To those with the means and discrimination to possess
the high-watermark of offshore luxury, we recommend
the queen of the Ocean Yachts fleet … the all-new
73 Super Sport.
Hull Design
The 73 Super Sport possesses the soft contours, smooth
forward deck design, and raised sheerline that make
Oceans the touchstone in classic American production
yachts. What is not immediately apparent, however,
is her highly efficient planing hull.
A pair of down-angling strakes feeds water into the
suction area naturally occurring on planing hulls.
This action reduces resistance. Water is also fed
to the props, resulting in less slippage and improved
efficiency at lower speeds.
Like her sister ship, the 62 SS - the 73 Super Sport
has an evolved planing hull, which makes both models
the best roughwater yachts in Ocean's nearly 30-year
history – perhaps the best in their class. They
can remain at cruising speed, in difficult seas, and
not take a beating. While foul weather may keep most
other sportfishermen tied to the dock, ours are running
for the offshore canyons – and the big-game
fish.
The 73 Super Sport is capable of 30+ knots with standard
diesel engines driving her. Optional powerplants are
available for those wanting even more power. These
unbeaten top speeds are achieved using more fuel-efficient
engines with smaller footprints.
Salon Features
The 73 Super Sport’s magnificent salon is accented
in teak, or optional cherry, wood with exquisite cabinetry.
A sprawling U-shaped designer sofa, glossy teak hi-lo
table, and an icemaker combine in one of production
yacht manufacturing’s most superb offerings.
The state-of the-art entertainment center contains
a Bose Lifestyle 38 Stereo System and a 40”
LCD television.
In consultation with William Bales and Company, Ocean’s
exclusive interior stylist, 73 Super Sport owners
will choose the designer color and fabric scheme most
expressive of their individuality.
Galley
Standard galley amenities aboard the 73 Super Sport
include an upright refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher,
an instant hot-water dispenser, a convection/microwave
oven, four-burner range with conventional oven, a
trash compactor, and central vacuuming system. Sinktops
and countertops are Corian®, or optional granite.
Drawer-style under-counter refrigerator and freezer
units and a garbage disposal are available options.
The galley deck is covered by handsome Amtico®
designer flooring. A custom inlaid floor treatment
is available. Working surfaces and storage are generous.
The dinette’s settees seat as many as six travelers,
in a classic L-shaped configuration. The main deck
is fluid and open, allowing for ease of movement.
A washer and dryer, laundry table, and an additional
freezer unit – all standard – are located
in the utility center. An optional wine-chiller is
available.
Quarters
The master stateroom aboard the lavishly appointed
73 Super Sport is immense, occupying the lower deck
area beneath the galley sole. It possesses a king-sized
berth with drawer storage, cedar hanging lockers,
overhead cabinets, two nightstands, and a vanity with
stool. A Bose Lifestyle 38 Stereo System with CD/DVD
player and a 30” LCD color TV provide pleasurable
diversions. The ensuite head features a full-size
bathtub and shower with every other creature comfort
you would expect in an Ocean Yacht of this magnitude.
The VIP guest stateroom (forward) has an offset queen-sized
berth with drawer storage, two nightstands, a vanity
with stool, overhead cabinets, a cedar hanging locker,
clothes drawers, a 20” LCD color TV with DVD
player, and an AM/FM stereo with CD player. With the
spaciousness of its accommodations, ample storage
and numerous amenities, the forward Guest Stateroom
will pamper the owner’s most privileged guests.
